About Coastal Boats (Cambodia) Co Ltd

A specialist aluminium boatbuilding yard on the Kampot River, delivering commercial and custom vessels to operators across three continents.

Who we are

Coastal Boats has been building working boats for more than two decades, with seventeen of those years spent in Thailand before relocating our operation to Kampot, Cambodia. Today we run a purpose-built riverside facility staffed by an experienced team of aluminium welders, fabricators and composite technicians, together producing vessels engineered to commercial survey standards for clients worldwide.

What we build

Our core capability is aluminium construction — the material that has shaped most of our work over the past fifteen years and that suits the demanding service profiles of ferry, charter and utility operators. We design and fabricate monohull and catamaran platforms across a wide size range, and we also retain deep expertise in advanced composite construction: standard GRP, epoxy/PVC foam sandwich and epoxy/ply cold-moulded hulls. This combination lets us match the build method to the mission rather than the other way around.

Recent commercial deliveries

  • Passenger ferry for the Yeppoon to Pumpkin Island route, Queensland, Australia.
  • Fast 48-passenger ferry, now in operation in Indonesia.
  • 12-metre aluminium landing craft, currently working in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Alongside the commercial workboat program, we currently have three Mumby 48 Cyber sailing catamarans under construction — a project that has driven the most recent extension of our factory.

Our yard in Kampot

We began developing our Cambodian site in 2020 on the riverbank opposite Kampot town, a fifteen-minute drive from the town centre and roughly four hours by road south of Phnom Penh. Successive build-outs have added covered fabrication halls, with the latest extension completed to accommodate three Mumby 48 catamarans simultaneously. The location gives us protected launch access, a stable skilled workforce and a logistics chain capable of moving completed hulls to international shipping ports.

How we work

Our approach combines traditional boatbuilding craftsmanship with modern materials, engineering documentation and quality control. We work directly with owners, operators and naval architects from concept through commissioning, with an emphasis on cost-effective construction, attention to detail and the kind of customer care that comes from running a yard rather than a production line.
